I am an assistant professor in the Department of Computational and Data Sciences (CDS), Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and the convenor of the Visual Computing Lab (VCL).

Brief bio (prior to joining IISc)

I have been working as a faculty member in CDS, IISc since June’17. From December’16 to June’17, I worked as a researcher at Robert Bosch Research and Technology Centre, India. Before that, I was a research fellow in the Rapid-Rich Object Search (ROSE) Lab at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore working on large scale, deployable video surveillance systems. From October’14 to November’15, I worked as a post-doctoral fellow in the A*STAR-NUS Clinical Imaging Research Centre at National University of Singapore. I completed my Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from University of California, Riverside under the supervision of Dr. Amit K. Roy-Chowdhury in August’14. I obtained my M.S. from the same institute in 2010 and prior to that, my bachelors in Electrical Engineering from Jadavpur University, India.

Research interests

I am interested in exploring applications of systems theory, probabilistic graphical models, stochastic processes, geometric tessellation and optimization in a wide range of computer vision and machine learning problems, such as -

  • Video analytics: Multi-camera surveillance - data association across large camera networks, person-reidentification, video anomaly detection, activity recognition and forecasting.

  • Biological and medical image analysis: Bio-image informatics - registration, cell segmentation, spatio-temporal cell tracking, cell and tissue resolution 3D reconstruction of confocal image stacks.
3D segmentation of FIBSEM neuro image stacks, semantic segmentation.
Analysis of clinical MR, CT and micro-CT images.
